Explore, Study, Play…

With our new series of chairs, we aim to explore the potential of different materials and how they can transform a design. The enchanting world of Métaphores sets the scene for the first object in the ‘O&D Creative Lab’ collection, inviting you to play with colors, patterns, contrasts, and, above all, textiles. The interaction between the ‘Transat Oursin,’ a soft geometric jacquard, and the floral Louis XV-inspired brocatelle ‘Frivole Santal’—designed by Mathevon et Bouvard in the 19th century—creates a playful effect. The two textiles are elegantly separated by a natural leather piping, enhancing the visual contrast. Additionally, a reinterpretation of the classic leather-cord-covered armrest introduces a dynamic new element: a duotone natural/dark brown leather cord combination that adds character to the chair.

The Sensory Textile World of Métaphores

The fascinating aspect of working with textiles lies in the dynamism and variability they bring to a piece of furniture. Métaphores textiles are no exception. Throughout our fabric selection process, we were continually impressed by the depth, tactility, and sensory richness of Métaphores’ creations. Each textile encourages close examination, touch, and discovery of its unique features, inspiring you to explore the delicate balance between contrast and harmony. Through experimenting with ‘imperfect’ combinations of patterns and colors, we strive to achieve a deeper sense of completeness.

Born of a Subtle Alchemy between Materials, History, and Craftsmanship

Métaphores is a distinguished French brand that blends the centuries-old expertise of Verel de Belval in silk furnishings with Le Crin’s handwoven horsehair. This remarkable fusion results in textiles that showcase an unparalleled mastery of materials, offering both sensory pleasure and visual creativity.
